Mandate Process
We've begun the Mandate process. For those whoa re unaware, in L'Arche, a mandate is a 4 year road map of sorts. The community reflects on what are some goals it would like to achieve in the next 4 years. Our current mandate ends in July 2010 .
Sister Anita Maroun was in Erie all week to meet with different groups about their sense of the community and if we're heading in the right direction. Sister Anita is the Regional Coordinator of the Eastern Region of the US Zone.
Sister also shared some exciting news about L'Arche around the world; communities are being formed in Nicaragua, St. Louis, Atlanta, Japan, Senegal, Korea, Cambodia and Singapore. There are L'Arche pre-projects in New Hampshire, the Bahamas, Richmond, VA, Camden, NJ and Emitsburgh, MD. L'Arche in Washington, DC is opening their second home.
The Federation is restructuring the Zones to make them a little more culturally uniform. There will now be 3 zones (US, Canada and France) and possible future 4th (the UK). All the other countries with over 3 communities would be assigned a special Coordinator and those countries with under 3 communities would be assigned a delegate.
